With the developing of economy, international business has become a focus of attention. To help students understand this field, this paper will analyze the Journal of International Business Studies (JIBS), which is the official publication of the Academy of International Business (AIB), published by Palgrave Macmillan UK.
The JIBS, which was published first in 1970, concentrates on not only international business but also business and management, management, organization and business strategy/leadership. The mission of this journal is to publish creative, influenced and efficient research on international business and to provide understandable, thought-provoking directory for the common academic business community. The authors of articles are almost teachers who are working at the universities. The JIBS is multidisciplinary in scope and interdisciplinary in content and methodology. It illustrates that the evidence and consequences this journal provided must be something new, and it can provide some new ideas about the management. The JIBS published plenty of research papers. And the JIBS published content from across the six sub-domains of international business studies, including the multinational enterprises, interactions, the cross-border activities, international environment, international dimensions and cross-country environment. It’s obvious that this journal is a well-rounded academic journal for business students and researchers. People can find several previous useful information by reading only this journal. It’s useful to their present studies. It’s also a good choice for management students to study. The Editor-in-Chief of JIBS is Alain Verbeke who are working at University of Calgary, Canada. The managing Editor is Anne Hoekman who is working at Academy of International Business, USA. The reviewing Editor is Sjoerd Beugelsdijk who is working at University of Groningen, Netherlands. The senior Editors are Mary Ann von Glinow who are working at Florida International University, USA and Yadong Luo who is working at University of Miami, USA. And there are 18 Area Editors from different countries. It points that the editorial group of this journal is a multicultural group with diverse background which can consider different management styles in different countries. The JIBS published about 4 issues between 1970-2006 in total about every three months, and about 8 issues from 2007 to now in total about every month. Each issue contained average 11 articles. It’s visible that the number of articles has increased by years. Each issue of publication involves number (volume, issue, print and online ISSN), date, editorial note, articles, research note. Especially, there will be an obituary about the famous, such as Melvin Calvin who won the Nobel Prize in chemistry. It indicates that the researchers of merit should be remembered.
